The academic visit of second-year diploma students in Mechatronics Engineering to Cohu Malaysia Sdn Bhd on 4th October 2024 went smoothly, Alhamdulillah. The company shared a lot of valuable insights with the students and accompanying staff. For your information, Cohu, Inc. (NASDAQ: COHU), founded in 1947, is a global technology leader providing test, automation, inspection, and metrology products and services to the semiconductor industry. The company is US-based. We were fortunate to have Mr. Chen Wai Kong, the Vice President of Cohu, deliver a talk and share his experiences about the company. The students were also given a tour of the company’s production line and received souvenirs before heading back.

For us visiting lecturers, it was the first time experiencing something like this, with a different approach and motivation provided by such a global company. Hopefully, UniMAP and the faculty can establish good relations with the company and have the opportunity to collaborate in the future. Many thanks to Mr. Ahmad Firdaus, Dr. Fakhzan Mohd Nor, and Dr. Haryati Jaafar for assisting me throughout the visit. Special thanks as well to the backbone of the visit, Dr. Sukhairi Sudin, and Ms. Hanimah for helping me. 😍🥰 The best part was the gift from Cohu—receiving the La Gourmet item really helped ease the day’s fatigue.
